Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin

UNFPA Executive Director

On 1 January 2011, Dr. Babatunde Osotimehin became the fourth Executive Director of UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund. He holds the rank of Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Before this appointment, Dr. Osotimehin had served as the Minister of Health of Nigeria. Prior to that position, he was the Director-General of the Nigerian National Agency for the Control of AIDS, which coordinates all HIV and AIDS work in a country of more than 150 million people. more

Anne-Birgitte Albrectsen

Deputy Executive Director (External Relations, UN Affairs and Management)

Ms. Albrectsen brings to UNFPA nearly 20 years of development and managerial experience, having held leadership positions in the Danish Government and previously in UNDP and UNFPA. She served with UNDP from 1997 to 2004, first as Deputy Resident Representative in Indonesia and later as Director and Management Adviser in the Administrator’s Office at UNDP Headquarters. She has direct knowledge of UNFPA’s mandate and areas of work, having served from 2004-2006 as UNFPA Representative in Turkey and Country Director for Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
